Subject: [*] Ares Demo 1.0; a networkable tactical space game

This essential update to the Ares Demo fixes a critical bug which
prevents the demo from launching after October 1st. It also includes some
additional features, minor bug fixes, and minor cosmetic changes. All
users of the Ares Demo 1.0 should update to 1.0.1. This is the complete
package, and should replace Ares Demo 1.0.

Ares is a action/strategy fusion game set in space. The player controls
an individual ship as in traditional space-shooters, but also has the
ability to construct and direct additional ships. It's a little like a
cross between Blizzard's WarCraft and Accolade's StarControl.

Ares has head-to-head network play over LocalTalk or over the internet.

Ares also has a unique dynamic scaling engine, which smoothly changes
from long-range tactical symbols to large colorful sprites for combat --
you have to see it to believe it.

Get the demo and see for yourself why Inside Mac Games said "this game is
going to be hot!"

Requirements:
- 68040 25MhZ or better (accelerated for PowerPC)
- System 7.1, Sound Manager 3.1 (7.5.2 recommended)
- 640x480 Color Display

Additional Networking Requirements:
- NetSprocket (PowerPC version included, 68K coming soon)
- OpenTransport 1.1.2

Subject: [*] Bookends Plus 4.01-Reference Management Software

Bookends Plus is reference management software, offering a powerful,
flexible, and sophisticated means of saving, retrieving, and
formatting reference information for bibliographies. It's also a
database that allows fast and easy retrieval of reference information,
as well as many features to ease the task of entering reference
information, including the ability to automatically import references
downloaded from many on-line database services and CD-ROMS.

In addition to its reference management/bibliography features,
Bookends Plus lets you "publish" your references on the World
Wide Web! When Bookends is running on a Macintosh connected to
the Internet and serving as a web site (for example, is running
server software such as MacHTTP or Webstar), users anywhere in
the world can search for and retrieve information in your databases,
even if they don't have Bookends.

For a tutorial and full details, please download the Bookends Plus
tutorial and manual from the same site you obtained Bookends Plus.

System requirements:
* System 7.5
* A Macintosh with at least 8 MB RAM
* 2.5 MB free hard drive space

Unregistered versions of Bookends Plus run in "demo mode." The
demo is fully functional except for two restrictions:

* Databases can hold a maximum of 15 references.
* You cannot transfer references or formats between databases.

Once you register this copy of Bookends Plus, there will be no
cap on the number of references allowed in a database (except
for the size of your hard disk) and you will be able to automatically
transfer references and formats (and more) between databases.

To obtain a valid serial number that will allow you to access the full
power of Bookends Plus, please contact Westing Software at:

Subject: [*] SchemeChecker 1.0.1 - a utility for checking Kaleidoscope schem

When Greg Landweber released Kaleidoscope 1.5, he started supporting
third party color schemes. Anybody can now make their own schemes, but
unfortunately, not all scheme designers are careful enough to make sure
their schemes are bug free.

SchemeChecker can help you make bug free color schemes. It checks your
schemes for errors like:
   - missing "System Heap" and "Purgeable" bits
   - missing resources
   - resources not needed

Version 1.0.1 of SchemeChecker is based on the resource set from
Kaleidoscope 1.7.2.

Version 1.0.1 is a maintenance release which fixes a few minor bugs.

SchemeChecker is primarily a utility for scheme designers, but if you are
experiencing strange, unexplained problems with your mac: freezes,
crashes etc., and you have Kaleidoscope installed, running SchemeChecker
on your favorite schemes may help you figure out what is causing the
problems.
